The Club was granted its charter on 18th June 1997, when Rotarian Raymond Ooi Kok Choon was installed as it’s Charter President. During his term he identified a sister club and as a result, a Sister Club agreement was signed between our Club and Rotary Club Khohong, Thailand.

The determination and solidarity of the charter members in the ideals of Rotary withstood the tough challenges along the way but now is poised to grow in strength and spirit. Despite its challenging times and smallness in number, the Club nevertheless, garnered several significant awards. During the year 1998 / 1999, led by the late PP Kan Karunanithy, the Club won the Presidential Citation Award and two District Awards for having the best bulletin and attendance records in the district.

Under the leadership of the late PP Gerard Pereira, during his term, the Club sponsored 2 Interact Clubs, signed a sister club agreement with the Rotary Club of Las Pinas in the Philippines and for the first time, a project on drug addition, community service and rehabilitation for drug addicts was initiated and organized by Rotary Ann Janet Pereira with the Rotary Ann’s of Group 5.

In the year 2000/2001, the late President K. Kandiah “upped” the score even higher by bagging the Presidential Citation Award and two District Awards, one for Community Services Award and another for Environmental Project. For this reason in the Rotary Fraternity, the club is often affectionately called “Chili Padi Club”

In the Year 2001/2002 the late President V. Bala called upon members to embrace a proactive to increase membership, strengthen club and expand our community service efforts. With vigour and vision President V. Bala led the club to achieve a 462% increase in membership (from 8 to 45) RC Sentul emerged as the top 10 world winner in Rotary’s Global Quest Campaign and President V Bala was honored on Stage at the RI Barcelona Convention with a Global Quest Award from RI President Richard D. King (A beautiful globe of the world made of semi-precious stones). At the district level, RC Sentul received the “Global Quest” Champion Club Award and Distinguished Bulletin award. The club also received the Golden eagle from RI President at the Rotary Institute welcome dinner and 9 members were honored with the “triple eagle recognition pin”.

IIn the year 2002 / 2003, President M. Ravi again bagged the President Citation Award. Beside that, the club spearheaded and organized a successful International Understanding Nite with the members of Group 9 in which Ambassadors and High Commissioners from 10 countries participated. He also took 9 Rotarians and family members to India in January 2003 and did a joint world community service project with our sister club in Chennai. Besides that, the Club had speakers and printed bulletin at the weekly meeting without fail.

In 2004/2005, President Gunaraj together with the Tsunami Medical Relief Team participated in the medical project in Baticola. This humanitarian mission is a joint effort of 36 NGO’s. He bagged the Presidential Citation Award, the Four Avenues of Service Citation Award and other District Awards, mainly for the Tsunami, Generasi Baru and Crime Prevention activities.

In 2005/2006, President Mahendran, RC Sentul received the Presidential Citation Award for the four avenues of service and recognized by the District with awards for New Generation and Community Service. He received the matching grant to set a computer centre for St. Joseph school and Sai Homes. He helped reactivate the Interact Clubs of SMK LaSalle Sentul & SMK Bt. He also organized the International Understanding dinner with group 8 members very successfully and organised a number of other projects for the community.

The Rotary year 2006/2007 under the Rotary theme “Lead the way” president Anthoni led the way with members and was recognized with the 100% EREY Awards. A first time achievement for RC Sentul. Under his dynamic leadership the Rotary Club of Sentul played host to 12 Interactors and accompanied adults from our sister club RC Colombo, Bishops College. It was truly a memorable experience for all of us.

In 2007-2008, it was time to pass the baton to our first lady President Punithemalar to show “Rotary Shares”. Under her leadership the club had a very good attendance with interesting programs. Besides that, the club also launched its website. The Club had the honour to induct two MPs, as honorary members. The Better Sight project with sister club Rotarians from RC Makati Paseo De’ Roxas was launched, and became an ongoing project. The “Dialog bersama Ketua Polis Kuala Lumpur” project bagged a special award from the District Governor. President Puni also bagged the Presidential Citation Award for the year 2007-2008 and another special award from the District Governor for efforts taken on maintaining good attendance.

In RY2008/2009, President Anthony John continued with the “Better Sight” project with our sister club In Manila, which bagged an award from the District Governor for International Service. He also organised a camping trip to Port Dickson for students from St Joseph Tamil School. President Anthony John received the Presidential Citation Award for the year 2008-2009

Once again we had the privilege to be led by another lady President for RY 2009/2010. President Vijayalackshumy with the help of her board, created Rotary Awareness in the Sentul vicinity by organising a very successful Medical Camp. Besides that, The Club bagged 4 District Awards – DG Special Award for organising the Mid-Term Review, partner club for District Conference, Special Award for International Project in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and the best website award for small clubs category. She received the Presidential Citation for the year as well.

Our President for RY 2010-2011, Peramis Rao started his year with zest and enthusiasm and carried on some projects like visiting of our sister club from RI District 3330 Rotary Club of Kohong where we did a joint water & sanitation project by donating a water filter. Besides that we also gave walking sticks & wheel chairs to a school in Haadyai. We hosted a group of 30 Rotarians from RC Palgad Orchids, from RI D3201. It was indeed a sad year for the President with the sudden demise of his lovely wife Saras. Though he was grieving, he managed to complete his year successfully with the encouragement and support from the members.

The change of quads came around on 1/7/2011 saw the new President Raj Kumar taking the chair. He was a Rotarian in from two different Districts, 3830 & 3310. During his tenure as the President many significant Community, International and PR Projects were organised ie; Eye care projects, Medical Camp (jointly with RC KL DiRaja) and Sentul Treasure Hunt besides other projects carried out in India and Philippines with our sister clubs respectively. We successfully hosted two District events, the TRF Seminar and District Awards Nite. President Raj also bagged the Presidential Citation Award and the Recognition for 100% EREY Giving Club Award.

In 2012/13 and 2013/14, President Shivamalar headed the leadership of the team by commiting her services for two years. Apart from the regular service projects, she initiated a partnership with THONEH for avoidable blindness by joining hands with our sister club RC Chennai Info City. She managed to raise some funds for cataract operations and spectacles for school children. 200 toilets were also built for a village in India with the help of matching grant with District 3230. She received the Presidential Citation for year.

The Rotary year 2015/2016 PP Prema made the theme a reality by being a Real Gift to the World. With her perseverance and commitment, she organised many commendable projects, namely visits to Petrosian’s Discovery centre for 167 kids from three (3) schools in Sentul, health camps, eradicating hunger and many more. The Club achieved several awards namely Presidential Citation, 100% Retention, Best Group Project and the Recognition for 100% EREY Giving Club Award.

In 2016/2005, President Shanmuganathan the club took on a massive project, eye screening in 17 schools located in Sentul. This was in conjunction with the “SAYANGI MATA VISION CLINIC” 2017. This project enabled us to showcase the working of Rotary, “Service above Self”, for 5 months we conducted Visual Acuity testing with the assistance of SEGi University in Sentul. The result was impressive, 932 beneficiaries were sent to SVC Clinic running from 1st – 5th May by arranging food transport the kids & adults which was major challenge.

During the term of President Guna, took on community service with a passion as he was involved in community from a young age. The Club engaged with the EDGE Foundation to facilitate Money & Me: The Youth Financial Programme on financial literacy for form 4 students in SMK Bandar Utama & SMK Bandar Baru Sentul. organized Autism & Inclusion: Parental Guide with Autistic Children in Sentul. The club was enabled by the SEGi University with their team of optometrist student for screening done at Selayang, Kajang and Ijok. A total of 240 beneficiaries were given a free spectacle and 23 beneficiaries of cataract operations and assisiting refugee kids. He also received the Outstanding President’s Award from the District Governor.

The Rotary year 2018/2019 under President Dr Sivaneswaran with the Rotary Theme ‘Be the Inspiration’  was indeed an inspirational year for the members of Rotary Club of Sentul. We had so many wonderful projects all year long mainly the eye screenings for schools in Sentul, medical camp for almost 200 people in La Salle Sentul and also Make a Wish Come true for almost 180 kids from charity home in Kidzania Kuala Lumpur. We had joint projects with our Sister club from Khohong both in Malaysia and Hatyai. We received three awards in the district for The best international service project, recognized with the 100% EREY Awards and finally the most outstanding president award. President  Dr Siva also bagged the presidential citation award with distinction for the year 2018/2019.
